Yes you can, but I do not recommend it. Driving culture is different from other places and some roads are not in optimal conditions as Waze may suggest them as alternative routes. I recommend hiring tour operators that speak your language.

How can I get to Antigua?

You can go by car, Antigua is a 60 minute car ride from La Aurora International airport. I recommend you make previous reservations with the tour operator that I recommend, so they can await for you outside the airport. Another option is to use Uber. Uber service is available in both cities and costs range from $25 and $45 (depending on demand). There is always Uber in the airport and in Antigua. Uber in Guatemala by default are compact cars, if you travel with a lot of luggage I recommend a private tour operator.

How can I move around in Antigua?

Antigua is a very small town and you can walk it through completely in one morning. There are also motorized carts called Tuc Tuc available in the city and the price ranges from $2 and 5$, depending on the distance. If you are traveling outside the town, you can use Uber or a private tour operator previously booked.

You can get there by car. Atitlan is a 3.5 hour car drive from Guatemala’s international airport (La Aurora) or 2.5 hours from Antigua Guatemala. I recommend you book in advance with the tour operator (I know a few) so they can wait for you in the airport or in Antigua. Once in Atitlan, you can walk or use the motorized local public transport called Tuc Tuc and boat rides when visiting the surrounding lake little villages. The boat ride is unique and make sure you know the schedules from the central dock with your hotel. Make sure you tell the boat driver your destination so he can point it out, for you to exit.

How to get to Tikal?

Tikal is in the Peten department in the north of Guatemala. The best way to get there is by local airplane ride from La Aurora international Airport in Guatemala City (GUA) to Aeropuerto internacional Mundo Maya-Flores (FRS). There are daily flights as early as 6:30am and get back to GUA at 9:30pm, making it possible to make a one day tour, even though I recommend a 2 or 3 day trip. Must visit Tikal, Yaxha and the Flores island.

Are you responsible for my guest’s transportation on the wedding day?

Yes, I make sure we find the best transportation option for you and your guests. There are many options like private chicken bus, small private buses, tuc tuc, classic model cars, or any transportation you have in mind to take you and your guests to the ceremony and reception. Once we find what best works with you, I coordinate with the transportation provider, schedules, pick ups and drop offs until everyone is back in their hotels.

Are you responsible for my guest’s Airport transportation to Antigua or Atitlan before and after the wedding?

No, but I can recommend top privately owned transportation businesses that can give you that service. They can coordinate the transportation as you require or need it to be (individual/single rides or groupal rides for guests arriving in the same flight). I recommend you post the transport website, so your guests can book in advance and also you won't be stressed about anything.
